Ok, I'm not sure where to start. I don't think this is specifically a CB issue, but hopefully the smart guys can give me some pointers.
Today, I was starting on the process to update from J! 3.4.8 to 3.5, and then to the next CB minor number. I believe I am on 2.0.13, and it was going to go to 2.0.14.
I started the process to upgrade Joomla. I have the Akeeba Backup component installed which always does a site backup as part of any upgrade process. Has worked well for the last dozen updates or so.
After a few minutes, I got a webpage popup dialogue box that said, "ERROR: could not open /var/www/joomla/htaccess.txt for writing."
I clicked OK.
The little "spinny icon" that usually indicates something is happening continued to spin, but none of the progress bars for the Akeeba backup were moving. This is usually a 5 minute process. I had to walk away for something else. After an hour, nothing had changed. I reloaded the page. The normal admin login page appeared, but after entering credentials, I get a 500 error.
I am no longer able to log in to the admin section. Any ideas for me to start recovery efforts?
