I have used CB Connect to allow users to login to my website using their social media credentials. I have read that New Client registration and permission review on Instagram API platform are discontinued in favor of the Instagram Basic Display API. The existing clients will stop working on March 02, 2020.
I want to be on top of the potential changes and want to find out if this means that CB Connect will no longer work with instagram login for community builder websites or will there be some update that allows it to continue working.
Doesn't look like any of that impacts CB Connect. The API endpoints CB Connect is using have not been deprecated and their usage is consistent with their documentation. They do have a new endpoint for reaching profile data, but the existing endpoint for reaching profile data appears to be still valid.
Looks like they're just changing how you create an Instagram application and how they handle permissions review for your application. CB Connect can already handle cases of the user not wanting to share partial information (e.g. if they don't want to share email address CB Connect will ask them for one). CB Connect actually only needs their social provider id to function, which can't be blocked via permissions.
At any rate have added a feature ticket to further review if our profile data API endpoint needs to be changed.
