Moved website to a new IP address - unable to update CB

1 week 4 days ago #341312 by derekkoopowitz
I've moved our website to a new IP address (same host - different server), and I restored the entire website using Akeeba Backup - the backup was successful and the website comes up without an issue.

When I went to update CB it fails with the following message:

When I click the "return to dashboard" CB and CB Paid Subscriptions no longer exist when I go to Components. I had to do a full restore of the site again in order to bring it back to normal.

What causes this issue?

Doesn't look like the restore was a success. CBs Joomla library extension appears missing. As for what causes it I have no idea as we're not the developers of Akeeba Backup.

Since it worked fine on the second attempt though I'm guessing the restore process was interrupted or maybe had an error the first time or is this happening every time you attempt to update CB? How are you updating CB? Manual upload? From CB's install from web? From Joomla's install from web? What Joomla version and PHP version are you on?

Kyle,

The language I used when I said it worked the 2nd time - It worked to restore a functioning website. I have not tried to update CB since it happened (twice now). I've had no issues doing a restore of the website and then updating CB afterwards.

I used the automated version of updating CB - I go to Plugin Management and click the + sign. I'm on Joomla 5.3.1 and PHP 8.3

Am a bit confused by these two statements. So everything is up to date and working fine now? If so I am guessing something just went wrong with the initial Akeeba Backup restore.

Let me start over with this. I restored my website to the new server. Everything worked fine after the restore.

I then noticed that there was a new CB available so I did the update and that is when I got that error. Website unusable.

I did another restore of the website from the backup and again everything worked fine afterwards.

I tried the update on CB again - failed again and website is unusable.

Did a restore again from backup (3rd time) and now everything works fine.

I have not tried the CB update again as I'm betting that it will fail again.

Strange. Seams like for whatever reason CBLib was failing to install. If it happens again just install CB over the top of itself and that might fix it. Guessing something server related or an extension on your site is causing problems during install.
