Translate cbactivity-language was created by Latypov
Hi. I wanted to change the translation in the activity feed.

...\components\com_comprofiler\plugin\user\plug_cbactivity\templates\default\activity\core\gallery.php
The file contains a variable for translation - SHARED_MEDIA_TITLE_IN_ALBUM

This variable is contained only in the file
...\components\com_comprofiler\plugin\user\plug_cbactivity\language\default_language\language.php
'SHARED_MEDIA_TITLE_IN_ALBUM'    =>    'shared [title] in album [album]',

This translation doesn’t work. You need to move this line to the file
...\components\com_comprofiler\plugin\language\en-gb\cbplugin\cbactivity-language.php

Or it would be better to change all the language variables in the gallery.php file so that they match the cbactivity-language.php file.

/en-gb/ language plugin is not necessary. The default built in language is already en-gb. Those language plugins are provided as examples for building your own and we haven't rebuilt them in quite some time. Will add a note to their descriptions so people stop accidently installing them.

/en-gb/ I have given the language as an example. This applies to files of any language.
Try to have a different expression written in the activity feed instead of "shared [title] in album [album]". For example, "published [title] in album [album]"

You can do this only after adding it to the file  \cbactivity-language.php new line 'SHARED_MEDIA_TITLE_IN_ALBUM'    =>    'published [title] in album [album]',.

It turns out that you need to add these lines to each file for any language.

So you're trying to change the string? You don't edit the files directly. You use the language overrides feature shown below.

www.joomlapolis.com/blog/kyle/18701-language-overrides-have-arrived

Language overrides are per-language plugin. So if all you have is the default language then for example you'd only add an override to it.

As for the language plugins other than Default we just package them from transifex. We don't officially provide translations. They are an entirely community driven effort. So if you're missing language strings or out of date you may need to add a language override as needed. In future releases when we convert our plugins to standalone Joomla extensions we'll be providing official translations for some languages.

I understand that you are not engaged in translation. I translate the components myself as I need them. You have a non-standard language file, but that's not a problem for me.
I wrote you an example so that you understand that even for standard English, you won't be able to rename it until you add this language string. Try to do as I wrote above

Sorry, I don't understand the issue. Of course you can't rename it until you add that language key. It will default to \components\com_comprofiler\plugin\user\plug_cbactivity\language\default_language\language.php until a language plugin overrides it.

cbactivity-language.php only exists in downloaded language plugins. It does not and should not exist in CBs default language folder. If it does delete it. Custom language strings for the default language should be added through language overrides not through files. If you're referring to a language plugin (e.g. French, German, etc..) then it's because the transifex files are out of date and we haven't updated them for people to translate. Will review updating them when time permits and rebuild the language plugins.

Language overrides always take priority. So even if the language key does or does not exist in cbactivity-language.php you can simple add it via CBs language overrides interface and it'll work.
