CB Activity - Comments Mode Display Issue

Hello,

I am contacting you because I have recently encountered a problem with CB Activity, whereas until now everything was working fine.

On my website and that of a friend, we display a chat room using a CB Activity module that we use for this purpose.

The module configuration is as follows:

Mode: Comments
Stream: Modules


This has always worked well, but recently it has stopped working. Super Users have access to the chat module and can see it, but other users cannot.

However, when I change the mode to ‘Activity’ instead, it works, so it seems that this may be related to the ‘Comments’ mode.

However, looking more closely at the permissions, they seem to be set up correctly, unless I've missed something. 

The module is accessible to the correct user group.

The CB Activity plugin gives access to the Registered group. The ‘Modules’ Comment Stream is accessible to the Public group. 

The Joomla plugins linked to CB have the correct access.

I have looked everywhere I can think of but have not found any permission issues in the configurations or other places where it could be misconfigured, and I have not found any topics on this subject in the forum, so I am sharing it with you and asking for your help to find out if it is a misconfiguration somewhere, a bug on the site, or a site linked to the latest updates.

Was able to confirm. Looks like a strange issue with the Joomla API we're calling to retrieve the module object. Some reason it's not returning the module anymore. Am investigating and working on a fix now.

Ok, was able to find and fix the cause. Was an issue with Joomla's API not working quite as described. Fix is available in latest CB Activity build release. You won't need to do anything beyond updating as it should just work as expected.

Hello again Kyle,

I just wanted to let you know that after a few tests, the module displays perfectly but it is impossible to publish new messages. When I click on the ‘publish’ button, nothing happens and nothing is published.

As a Super Users, I can publish without any issue but as a User, it is not possible, unfortunately.

Do you think this could still be related to a technical issue with CB Activity, or is it another bug, such as incorrect settings?

I'm not having any issues commenting in my tests.

 

My best guess would be CB Activity endpoint isn't accessible for whatever reason. Press F12 to open your browsers developer tools then click the Console tab. Now try to comment to see if there's any errors (they'll be red) and if there are any please provide them.

 

You can also try creating a Joomla menu item with a menu type of Community Builder > Plugin followed by setting the Plugin to CB Activity then set Action to Comments. This should help ensure Joomla menu access isn't blocking the API call.

 

If issue persists please PM backend super user login credentials and can take a look first thing Monday.
