That did the trick! It will add the VM user from the frontned subscription. From the backend, it will need to be a manual VM process to add a user to a group.

Will look into why it's doing that specifically for backend for next release, but I suspect VM is acting on the Joomla user store trigger causing your changes before the store to be lost when VM begins processing the store trigger, which is pretty normal as it's probably expecting the group values to be in POST so there's probably nothing that can be done specifically to fix it.
