CB Invites - Invite Failed to Send

Don't see how that's possible. It uses the exact same function as GJ for example to send emails. Only thing I can think of is the email address is being distorted during the save process perhaps. Please PM me a test email address that is failing. Perhaps something in the address could be cause it to fail or something in the subject/body perhaps. I'm not able to duplicate your issue locally.

OK, have uploaded on a live server, for testing, using php mail instead of smtp (as set in my localhost) and works perfect. If, as you said, GJ is using the exact same function as CB Invites, why is GJ Invites working on my localhost and not CB Invites?

Not a bug; it's displaying as designed. You're welcome to edit the template files of CB Invites however.

I didn't want to say that's a bug but that users can see it as being something strange. User never see such codes when sending a form.

This is a known bug.

Great because solving this one will also allow to solve the same bug for CB Blog

Don't know, I've made a note to rewrite the notification function for next release using GJs source.

In accordance with email spam policies it's always best to present the user with exactly what will send. It also lets the user know a link back is provided so they don't have to provide one. Again, it is part of the template which you're absolutely free to edit. I've made a note to add a parameter to disable display of prefix, header, and footer with next release.

I have the same problem sending invites ... same error and no clue as to why.

Is there a log or something that I can view? The error message is rather vague ...

Thanks, by the same time would be good to have a space or something else added after the prefix to separate it from the subject introduced by the user

@rramsey

What are your versions (joomla, CB, CB Invites)?
Is CB mass mail sending correctly?
Are you online or localhost?
Are you using PHP Mail or SMTP protocol?

In my case, CB Invites, works fine being:
  • on a live server (not localhost!!),
  • with php mail activated,
  • filling the header, subject and footer in CB Invites plugin(important)
  • using Joomla 1.7 + CB 1.7 + CB Invites 1.0.3

Hope helps

  • Both live server and localhost won't work
  • php mail doesn't work on my serven (synolony DS-209+II) - only SMPT worx
  • All fields filled
  • J1.7 CB1.7 Invites 1.03 installed
