Media links to direct media types are all allowed. So images, videos, audio, and files that match your extension settings.
Media links to to embed sites are supported for a limited few like YouTube, Facebook, Kick, Twitch, Vimeo, and Spotify will all make a best effort but is not a guarantee. As a fallback it will attempt to parse the headers of any URL that is shared to see if the URL contains valid media opengraph or twittercard data and will use that if applicable.
You can also restrict what URLs are shared using the allowed and disallowed lists in CB Gallery > Parameters > Links if for example you only want to allow links to YouTube.
