Finally got round to doing this, I edited the mySQL successfully so now all users in groups have those two fields on.
Am I right that all new users will have those on by default?
Another quick question. If a user clicks on an email notification and he's logged out I'd love it to open a login page in front of the notification URL page. How do I do that?

Yes.

That would be entirely dependent on the link itself. If it's protected behind Registered view access level via Joomla menu item then Joomla should already be sending them to logic.

I thought the URL was auto generated, how do I make it behind a Registered view in Joomla.
I know how to do that, but I'm just unsure where to find that menu, it is simply a CB Activity menu item?
If it's a URL to the CB Activity notification then creating a Joomla menu item with a menu type of Community Builder > Plugin then setting Plugin to CB Activity followed by Action to Notifications should work. Set that menu item to Registered and it should also cause the notification URLs to be registered access.
