I would place them behind webroot and adjust your server permissions so you can upload to that folder if you want to use backend/frontend file management. Otherwise yes you could place them in Joomla root in whatever folder structure you like then use htaccess to deny direct access to the folder.

Would it be possible for you to add this langauge file in which I have translated the mosty neccessary strings for frontend into danish, to the package, so that they do not get overwritten on update ? I do not want to create all thoose as overwrites as it gets pretty uncler with all theese strings.

File Attachment:

File Name: cbpackageb...uage.zip

I still get 401 not authorized when using: /index.php?option=com_comprofiler&view=pluginclass&plugin=cbpackagebuilder&action=versions&func=joomla&id=1&format=raw
Joomla Checker enabled under Versions

Is your package with an id of 1 published? There's only 2 scenarios where that URL will throw a 401. If Joomla version checker is disabled or the package itself is unpublished.

Is the CB Package Builder plugin itself in CB > Plugin Management public and published as well? If so I'm out of ideas here other than whatever menu item it's using isn't accessible. There's only 2 access checks in PKB itself for that URL and you've got those covered already. Any other checks would be done outside of PKB.
