"Smart" login redirection? was created by bascherz
Is it possible (without writing code) for the post-login redirection page to vary based on user profile data?
For example, can a person be directed to a specific page if they:
  • are a "Registered" user versus some other access level?
  • have a different language than the site default selected as their preferred language?
All I see in the CB Login module is a box to enter a URL. Can it be smart instead of a hard-coded path?
Thanks in advance.

With CB Auto Actions that's easily doable with no coding at all. Otherwise, no there's no functionality for that.

I thought maybe that was the case. So, does Auto Actions take precedence over the default for the conditions selected in the action? Is the default redirection URL just ignored?

Thanks in advance,
Bruce

That'd be entirely up to you as there's several triggers this can be done on during the login process so there's options available for how it should behave.

OK, well I just need to be absolutely certain as my client has a very limited budget and we need to be sure users who login end up on a page in the correct language.

Thanks, Kyle!

If this is just entirely about language then you normally would have a login module per-language. That'd give you login redirect parameter per-language since each module is per-language. Anything beyond that would require CB Auto Actions though (e.g. checking specific usergroups, field values, etc..). CB Auto Actions can handle language as well either by letting Joomla deal with the additional redirect or being sure to supply the language tag in your redirect URL.
