Sorry for the delayed response. I did finally get the Language Switcher working, so thanks a bunch for all your guidance on that. I know you didn't really have to help me with that.
As for the login redirect, I ended up writing (along with Google Gemini) a custom plugin to do it and it works perfectly. I augmented it with handy parameters. The plugin handles redirection for both login and logout.
