CB GroupJive 4.0 Released!

We are thrilled to announce CB GroupJive 4.0.0, an important upgrade for your community site. CB GroupJive 4.0 brings blazing fast group pages, clean new grid views, new Photos and Videos displays and plain-text event messages. It is fully compatible with Joomla 6, Joomla 5 and Joomla 4, and the latest Community Builder 2.12. CB GroupJive lets your users organize themselves into groups around common interests.

Speed

The first highlight of this release is speed. Nearly every group list was rebuilt. On a test site with over 1 million groups and users, the All Groups page went from 2 seconds to less than 10 milliseconds. Small sites also benefit from these optimizations.

Grid Views

The second highlight is the new grid views. Most group pages now use a clean, modern grid layout.

• Group headers have larger names and easy-to-tap buttons on mobile
• Tabs under the group header use the same new style
• You can adjust the grid with CSS variables

Photos and Videos

• Group photos now look and feel like the latest CB Gallery
• Group videos use the CB Gallery Panels layout and open in a modal window
• For group photos, we recommend the CB Gallery integration

Events

• Event messages can now be plain text only
• The visual (WYSIWYG) editor now shows for event messages when HTML messages are enabled

Before You Update

CB GroupJive 4.0 requires Joomla 4 or newer. If CB Activity, CB Gallery or CB Auto Actions are installed on your site, UPDATE them to their latest releases too. If you use the CB Paid Subscriptions integration for GroupJive, also install the latest CBSubs build.

For Developers

• Templates are now plain layout files, like in Joomla, instead of classes and functions
• Several API calls moved to namespaced classes: please review custom code that calls the GroupJive API
• All onDisplay triggers (and a few others) no longer use $return by reference: your code returns its output
