There was an empty line after ?> in the cb.captcha.php, I removed that but still have the problem.

ok, two additions:

1. it's not just a blank line after the end tag that makes the image disappear but also a blank line before the start tag

2. it's not just about the default_language.php of cb but also about the cb.captcha.php and even the joomla (!) language php (e.g. german.php) in the root directory (I tested it a minute ago)

try it and let me know...

Deletet all blank lines with a php editor.
Captcha still gone here.

Hope someone will find a solution soon :)

one more time ...

the language file in CB 1.1 is not terminated.

this means that you need to add a ?> at the end of it.

so for those who dont understand:

1. find the default_language.php file in your components->comprofiler->plugins->languages->default_language folder
2. open the file with a text editor
3. go to end of file
4. you should see on lines 938-939 the following:

// Watchout to NOT add any line or space or anything after the "?" and the ">" if you decide to add these at the end of the file !!!
// As they are not needed, we removed them to avoid page errors because of that. :-)

add line (940):

?>

this might fix your problem - please report back progress...

I also tried placing:

?>

on the line that you referenced in one of your earlier postings, and I was not able to get it working on our church site.
