Show system date in registration date field

Hi
I have a date field in the registration form that ideally needs to show the system date initially and then the user can select an appropriate date.
If I insert a value in "Pre-filled default value at registration only:" area a pop up comes up when registering "WARNING: The supplied date is not in valid 'DD-MM-YYYY' format: --0.
Therefore, the current system date will be used instead: 19-06-2010"

Is there a way to show the system date automatically in the required field?

No, I recommend setting the field as Required which would force the user to specify a date.

Thank you Kyle.
That solution unfortunately will not work as at present I have 2 different sections for different user types on the one registration form with dates which would affect the registration process of each of them.

I think this has been answered elsewhere but are 2 different registration forms possible?

Yes, but requires the usage of CBSubs as you can hide fields and or tabs based on Plan selection. Plans can be designed to be "Profile Types" for example. As far as I am aware there is no other solution.
