My host screwed the pooch

My host screwed the pooch was created by strngr12
I posted this same thread at the Joomla help forum so I only need answers to this question with regards to Community Builder. It's a long story about how this happened so I'll just cut to the chase. My host did a blanket chown command on my public_html directory to change all ownership to the account owner, me, so all of the files that were owned by nobody are now owned by me. This also changed all of the directory permissions to 755 and all file permissions to 644. Now, nothing works. You can see it here:

I have a few questions for anyone so kind as to help me:

1. Does ownership matter if the permissions are correct?
2. How complicated a task is it to change permissions on the files and directories to what they should be?
3. Is there some sort of permissions document that can walk me through what the permissions and ownership should be?

Thanks for any help!

I don't think the issue is a permissions issue, since the permissions are set to default, which should work fine. Please follow the Help Us Help You link and report back your fix or sufficient information.

Your site isn't working because you've an extension that requires ionCube Loader, but you don't have it installed/configured on your server. The extension in question is com_jmrphpbb.
