SEF Friendly URLs

SEF Friendly URLs was created by erich199
I've done a search and I understand one needs to do some .htaccess mod rewrite rules to get the SEF friendly urls?

Has anyone written the rules that they can share? I'm actually shocked it doesn't come standard with instructions to write to the .htaccess to have the sef urls.

Thanks in advance!

You need a 3rd party SEF extension that can rewrite and interpret the rewritten URLs. GJ is a CB plugin so it has no router to interpret custom URLs.

From reading the forums, I thought only Joomla native SEF worked? Do you recommend a third party sef that works with GroupJive?

I'm not sure if only Joomla SEF will work. You can try by adding custom rewrite rules to the htaccess file, but I have not tested either of the methods so I can't guarantee either will work. With CB 2.0 we ideally want to improve our Router so it can be extended by plugins to allow for plugin URLs to automatically SEF properly.

I saw this link www.groupjive.org/forum-mainmenu-45/394-possible-bugs/7403-sef-router-for-groupjive

The guy wrote a router that seemed to work and the guy beneath him seemed to solve the issue he had. I'll test it out and see.
