The link must of display wrong for you the parameter you are referring to is lang=en. Yes the Profile link is published and public.

Hi there
We have just confirmed that the problem is due to the client having a proxy setup in their office which is somehow causing the "You are not authorized to view this page" message to be displayed by community builder.
Is there any settings I should change that could stop this?

As far as I am aware the proxy shouldn't matter on Joomla 1.5.x and Joomla 1.6.x. If on Joomla 1.0.x you'd have to adjust the security setting to at most Level 2 for proxy IPs to work. You may have better luck checking Joomla boards concerning hosting or access a Joomla site behind a proxy.
