Is there a guide which explains how to upgrade from CB 1 to CB 2 so I don't lose my data or my configuration information?

Upgrading from CB 1.9.1 to CB 2.0+ is just a simple install over.
You should not lose any data or configurations.
You need to first as always take backup and have any CB 2.0+ compatible add-ons on hand to upgrade them after you upgrade to latest CB 2.0+.
