Allow Public user to send mail to Registered user

14 years 7 months ago #110068 by itapps
Hi,
I'm using CB 1.2.
Is it possible for Public unregistered users to be able to send email through the email form, to registered users?
I've tried using the Public Mail plugin, it works fine, but I need to be able to send mail using the email field instead of a Public Mail tab.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Our question exactly - if you found the answer please share.

Registered users can Send Mail using the form but public users can not.

We thought the whole point of having the 'Send Mail' was to allow the public to send a message without giving out email addresses... what are we missing?

Thanks!

To prevent spam only registered users can use your site to send emails (the emails are sent from YOUR site which uses your bandwidth, etc...). You can however change the email method to a link rather then a form and users can then publicly email one another using their own email clients.

To prevent SPAM you have the great submit form, how do we make it so anyone can send to our subscribers / members - this is one of the greatest benefits of being a paid subscriber: You can attract customers.

Please point me in the right direction to hack this

Thank You!

I believe there was/is a 3PD plugin that does this (think it is posted on JED also), written by kamp is I recall.

The issue is that you would be using your website email service as a relay for anyone to send your members email messages. If this is abused (and it will at some point), you risk the chance that your host will react and maybe even block your email priveleges.
