maybe someone can help me -- I would like to know how to adapt or change the background color of the frontpage articles. If the article is on the frontpage and not approved the background is something like blue....if it is approved it is again white - I would like to have it blue - where is my mistake???

You need to find which CSS is controlling the items you want to change. Use firebug for firefox (or equivalent) to find out what css classes control items on your page so you can adjust them.
