On the registration form I have a required dropdown list of US States. The first item is '<-- Select -->', which isn't a valid value. If they don't pick an actual state from the list it still validates. How can I force the user to pick something from the list?

If I remove the '<-- Select -->' option then it defaults to the first state on the list. It seems that the "Pre-filled default value at registration only:" in the field set up does nothing: it can be empty or populated but neither show up in the value list.

So, I guess what I need to do is make the value of '<-- Select -->' invalid and would rather not hack the core to do that.

I just recently upgraded to 1.2.1 from 1.2. In 1.2 the first value was blank which was technically invalid and forced the user to select something.

Can anyone help?

I have the same problem regarding a single select drop down field. The pre-filled default does not seem to work.

Any suggestions?

I´m crunching through the codes but still not able to find the bug that seems to be in code.

Can anyone at least tell me which files generate the input fields?

Than I could go on looking for the problem.
